Taken this morning around and about the place. Before it got to be 149 degrees outside in the friggin shade! Actually, the bridge was taken enroute to Cape Girardeau yesterday evening, over the Mississippi. It was one of those rare shots, taken "blind" (meaning i actually am watching the road while my hand takes pictures) and is unretouched: as is straight off the camera.
The corn is because that is where we are out in. The honkers are working the field to our west. The first shot is early, dawnish. The one with them flying off is a bit later. I'm not sure what set them off, but maybe the sun and heat reminded them that they are technically water birds, and all we have to offer are bone-dry accommodations. I think they are amassing for an early trip back north. I don't blame them a bit: the weather forecast is grim. But anyone reading this has already endured it and gleefully shipped it on east...
The cool little hopper dude is my friend.
Love you guys! Hope to get this going again, after a busy summer!
