does grandma have internet? for that matter, i don't have a phone number for her. can someone email it to me?
so, i'm getting the ball rolling on making these cd's for the boys. i just ordered a thousand four-panel kraft paper cases for about $200(very good deal!!). shrink wrap will cost about $35. other than that, costs are minimal. i already have everything i'm going to need to print on them, i think. now the hard part. actually doing it!! i need ideas, lots of ideas, well, really just one good one. it should be fun, even though i'm holding my breath a little bit (because it will be challenging!).
wish me luk!

hey maya, mom, this is a link to a pdf article, Public Health or Clinical Ethics, by a woman who is an eminent philosopher, onora o'neill.
i thought maya that you would be especially interested given your interest in community development. she takes the current trend of considering the autonomy of the individual to be the ethical foundation for medical decisions and moves it pretty squarely over to the aegis of political philosopy, arguing that the individual concerns are narrowly targeted to the wealthier populations, and the concerns of social justice for less fortunate peoples are excluded from the conversation....
i know, where do we find the time! that is how we wake up at fifty and go: "huh?"
hehe
love you guys! off and running. would love to hear more from y'all...
oh, rosemary's mom dorothea just came home from a sudden excision of enormous tumor. she is resting comfortably, but rosie had just returned from barcelona when this all came down, and was unable to go to the hospital at all due to risk of stray pathogens. hospitals don't need our help to kill people!
but all went very well, despite the rush of events...
my heart and prayers to dorothea! she was always generous and kind, beyond i am sure what i deserved...
busy here, michael has been off work over a week trying to get the inflammation down in his knee. so far, so good, but come bills we will be eating dirt. so if you know of any good varieties, just let us know!
had a nice long conversation with marion, who is sounding pretty good. it was good to touch base with her. she is getting some pictures together for me. it strikes me as pretty pathetic that i don't even know my father's middle name, or birthday. what in the world is that? what happened?
well, actually, a picture of what happened is beginning to cohere, with help from mom and those who knew him. and in equal measure the whole sorry mess is beginning to unravel and disappear in the current...
hubby just put food under nose... works every time!

yes, very quiet. I didn't have any indication anybody was out there... no comments on the links or anything, so i figgered people either weren't about, so i drifted. sorry.
it was a rough christmas. on the whole it was wonderful, but as with every christmas there are always the less savory aspects. It is a very bad time to receive a dispersement from daddy bill's death. It was small, which is fine, but i thought it was a card from Marion, and I was so excited, and then it was just a brief note and a check, no merry xmas. felt like a multi-dimensional ten-ton door slammed on my nose. merry xmas indeed.
and then i find that instead of the gift i sent step-Dad Chuck, he received a very tardy gift certificate from Amazon. Grrr! How tacky is that!
overall a bad time to be my dad!
but elsewise it was Wonderful!!!! as it should be... except without maya, the actual christmas day was indistinguishable from any other day off! except the feast had a couple more courses...
thank you all for the feedback on my haiku is falling. It means a lot to me. I hope they all reached their destinations. We siblings are not communicating very well.
i know it's just stupid to get your feelings hurt about stuff like that. Especially at my age. but i keep thinking that we are setting such bad examples for our kids...
well, i am recovering from a fall on my bum. much better today. that clear ice is treacherous and being overweight is a reeaally bad idea! getting the pounds off doesn't sound like such a hobby anymore. it is stupid to fall down and not be able to get back up without help in the middle of a parking lot. not so stupid to fall, that happens. but so stupid to have impacted the ground carrying a sack of grain around your gut, putting exponential stress on flesh and bone. stupid, at my age, to take those chances.
and just stop with the "extra padding" comments. It is not true, believe me. Don't try it at home...
here is an educational link you all might find interesting: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/index.htm
and a really funny obituary: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/obituaries/BUCHWALD_FEATURE/blocker.html
well, maya, you and hank just come-on down, y'all! mighty pleased, mighty pleased...
good news about my guitar: Martin has offered to repair it for free, and to provide a proper case. they didn't really have to: all parties were aware that the proof required to establish culpability did not exist. So Martin really went over and above on this one, and for that I am eternally grateful. I love my guild, but the wider neck is hurting my hand and muffling the G chord. Not exactly the chord you want to lose, if lose you must. so it will be nice to get the martin back, get back in comission. literally, hehe.
love you all, breakfast under nose, gots to go!

family blogger is quiet these days. does that mean we're all busy?
well, heres what i've been up to. waiting for inspiration for the cd cover for the record low. i've got none. but i seem to have plenty for other things. i made these cool things for our friends, ryan and kelly. they are due to have a new baby any day now. i guess she's not due til next month but we're all kindof waiting anyway. i haven't been around a baby in forever. maybe since ayla. i put pictures of the gifts on my blog. i just had so much fun making them. i handsewed them. i hope they like them.
right now i'm making a shirt for hank. he's got a show tomorrow night and they got a write-up in the reader the free chicago paper. it's pretty awesome. they didn't know they would get a writeup but this means the show is going to be crowded! should be fun. maybe i'll sell some shirts...for money.
i'm going to salt lake city on february 22nd to fall down a mountain. sounds like fun. i'll take that over falling down my steps in chicago. mountains are pretty. actually i can't even tell you how excited i am to fall down a mountain. plus i'll get to see all my friends. turns out, i crunched the numbers, and i have more friends there than in chicago. ironic.
oh, mom, i forgot to tell you. hank and i are probably(80%) coming to southern illinois next week. tuesday is likeliest. not for long, but we wants to visit. i think hank and ubu will get along very well.
van is living. but muffler is no longer with us.
i found tickets to europe for 500 dollars r/t. does anyone want to go with me. late march? anyone?
well, that is all. i love and miss you. (o, go to my blog.)

http://ginieagle.zaadz.com/blog/2007/1/to_live_in_the_garden I am putting links here because I am not the administrator of this blog, so without logging out and logging in as vip, and logging out and logging back in as myself so I can get to my stuff, well. It ain't happening. I believe in a better way, and I have faith that it exists, somewhere.
Anyway, these beautiful words of inspiration are a gift to the world.
I hope you enjoyed the video, too!
